CCOG - Course Content and Outcomes Guide

What is the intent of the CCOG?

The CCOG is a document that is meant primarily as a guide for the faculty – so that anyone teaching the course can clearly see what the SAC intends in terms of both student learning outcomes and content. If the SAC feels that certain activities or design elements are critical, they can include them in this document. The CCOG becomes a directive to instructors, so that they know the content to be covered and the student learning outcomes that are expected, also suggesting (directly or by omission) what aspects are left to the faculty member's discretion. If a SAC feels that certain activities or design elements are critical to the course they should be included in the CCOG. Although meant as a guide for faculty, the CCOGs are public, and are often used by students or by colleagues inside or outside the college.

The CCOG expresses all of the elements that are deemed critical to "identity" of the course. Some of these elements are "Banner data" – the course number, contact hours, title, description and prerequisites. Many elements require college approval (all of the above, plus outcomes and related instruction). The other elements are under SAC authority, and can be changed by the SAC using Courseleaf, the curriculum software system.

  • View the electronic CCOG inventory.
  • To develop a CCOG for a new course, start with the course management tool: log in to MyPCC and select the ?"Faculty" tab.?The Course management link is on the right-hand side, under "Tools".
  • Revise a current CCOG
    • To determine if your CCOG revision needs college approval, please refer to Course Revision – Process Overview
      • Revisions that require college approval: log in to Courseleaf through the faculty tab in MyPCC and choose "Course Management". Once you find the course, click "Revise Course".
      • Revisions that do not require college approval: log in to Courseleaf through the faculty tab in MyPCC and choose "Course Management". Once you find the course, click "Revise SAC CCOG Fields Only".
    • If you are revising a CCOG and wish to make changes to both elements, begin with the ones that need college approval. When these changes have been entered into Courseleaf and put through the workflow, you can enter the remaining changes to complete the revision.
