1. Choose your math path
MTH 60/65/95 path
The MTH 60 arrow right 65 arrow right 95 path is designed to prepare students for higher level math classes, like trigonometry or calculus.
When should you take this path?
- If you plan to major in a healthcare field.
- If you plan to major in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) field.
- If you plan to major in a field that requires advanced math, chemistry, biology, or physics for your degree.
- If you will need to take MTH 211/212/213, either path is possible – see a PCC advisor for more help.
MTH 58/98 path
The MTH 58 arrow right 98 path is designed to prepare students who plan to major in a field that requires no additional math other than Math in Society (MTH 105) or Statistics (MTH 243).
When should you take this path?
- If you plan to major in the humanities, arts, or social sciences.
- If you have no plans to major in healthcare, science, technology, engineering, or math.
- If you want to focus on real-world math that incorporates group work and helps people with math anxiety succeed.
- If you will need to take MTH 211/212/213, either path is possible – see a PCC advisor for more help.
(If your goals change in the future, you may need to take some additional math courses to move to the MTH 60 arrow right 65 arrow right 95 path.)

- Talk to a PCC advisor for specific information.
- Check the required courses for your PCC degree or major in GRAD Plan. You can also check for prerequisites in the college catalog.
- If you plan to transfer, check with your transfer school to get specific information about the requirements for your major.
