We know that dating/domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking are common and does impact many of us. If you or someone you know needs support around these issues, there are places in our community that can help. We have listed some places in the Portland area, but we understand it can be a lot to take in. If you need someone to talk to and support you, you can reach out to a confidential advocate (UPDATE LINK) right here at PCC.

Emergency Shelter

The following emergency shelters are specific to serving survivors of domestic, dating, or intimate partner violence. You can call each shelter to learn if they have open space, or you can call Call to Safety who updates who has space at these shelters every morning at 9am: 503-235-5333. You can also check online.

Walk-in Centers

Get help in these centers with things such as:

  • Help applying for protection orders
  • Help applying for assistance programs

You can walk-in during business hours or call for over-the-phone appointments and support.

Sexual Violence

    • They have a helpline that you can call anytime, day or night. They offer support after the crisis, group support, education for communities, and help for survivors of sexual and domestic violence. If you want to join a support group, call the helpline for more information. They can assist survivors in any language using their language services

  • UNICA (a branch of El Programa Hispano): The bilingual support line provides 24/7 support for survivors of interpersonal violence. Staff and trained advocates provide crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, shelter or motel advocacy, information about protective orders, mental health resources, and assistance in identifying appropriate resources and referrals.

  • Victim Rights Law Center
    • Provides free, trauma informed legal services to sexual assault survivors throughout Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington County including help with immigration, housing, and employment issues.
    • Survivors can call (503) 274-5477 x6 at any time to leave a message on the intake line. Messages are typically returned by the end of the next business day.

  • Appellate Advocacy Program
    • Provides advocates who are available to help survivors understand legal proceedings after conviction and sentencing. This may include compensation for out-of-pocket counseling costs related to any new trauma created by these legal actions or travel reimbursement when attending one of these hearings.

    • Anonymous phone service that monitors offenders in custody of the department of corrections and all county jails so survivors can access current status of an incarcerated person who has caused them harm.

  • Sexual and Gender Minority Youth Resource Center (through New Avenues for Youth)
    • Provides a safe(r), supervised, harassment-free space for sexual and gender minority youth ages 13-23 to participate in activities such as art, music, community organizing, open mic nights, drag shows, and support groups. Youth may also access case management, counseling, education, and more.
