Dorothy Yezerski
Dorothy Yezerski (1921-2003) a native of Portland, graduated from the Museum Art School (now the Pacific Northwest College of Art) and received her B.A. from Lewis & Clark College. After she first visited Italy in the 1960s, Yezerski became fascinated by the ancient ruins and monuments of the Mediterranean world; these became the focus of her watercolor and oil paintings. Her habit of painting landscape scenes as viewed from above allowed her to take advantage of the colors and patterns that exist in nature in order to abstract them.
