A native of Mexico, Francisco Salgado is a gifted photographer as well as a sculptor and received his MFA from the University of Oregon. He has made sculpture from many different materials, but is perhaps best known for his painted steel pieces, characterized by vibrant color and forms that are organic and abstract. The title of this work, Artery, suggests at once a passage and a life force, and its twinned forms combine in a vivid dance.
