John Maul
John?Maul?(1956-2012) received a BFA in sculpture from Oregon State University in 1977, and an MFA in sculpture from Syracuse University in 1980.? His 32 year teaching career began at Syracuse University, continued at Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana) and finished at OSU where?Maul?taught sculpture, foundation design, and art history for over 20 years, serving as department chair and? director for the School of Arts and Communication; he also founded OSU’s successful Jumpstart summer art program for high school students.??His work is in the collections of the Toledo Museum of Art (Ohio) and the Corpus Christi Museum of Art (Texas) as well as the Salem Convention Center. ?Maul?was a teacher and mentor to Rock Creek Art Department chair, Ben Buswell, and his legacy of energy and engagement with materials and meaning continues on that campus.
