Why did I receive less money than I was expecting?

Updated October 18, 2022

There are several reasons why you may have received less money than you expected.?It might be one of?the following reasons:

  • Enrollment:?If you enroll in less than 12 credits, your financial aid may have been reduced. See the How Award Amounts Are Determined?webpage?to learn more about?how enrollment affects financial aid.
  • One term loan: If your loan is for one term, it is split in two equal disbursements and you will receive the second half at the midpoint of the term.?See the Disbursement Schedule on the Receiving Your Funds webpage for specific dates.
  • Summer term: If you are awarded for four terms (Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring), some of your financial aid is equally divided between all terms.?This could be less per term than dividing your financial aid equally between three terms.
  • Additional resources: If you received additional financial resources like a scholarship or third-party payment, it may have reduced your financial aid eligibility.

If none of the example scenarios applies to you, you may need to contact the Financial Aid Office to find out why you received less money than you were expecting.
