Why has PCC changed some courses from 3-credits to 4-credits, and how do these changes benefit students?
Updated October 20, 2022
The purpose was to make transferring to schools in the Oregon University Systems (especially to PSU, where most of our students continue) smoother for our students.? Because the number of credits required to graduate (or to maintain full-time status) has not changed, there should be no additional financial burden on students. Full time students will take fewer courses per term (12 credits is three, 4-credit courses instead of four, 3-credit courses), but those courses are expected to be richer in content, and enhance the student’s preparation for upper division course work.
