How do I know what classes I need for a degree?
Updated October 10, 2022
One way to find out about PCC degree requirements is to view our online catalog. To use the catalog you will need to know what type of associate?degree you are trying to earn:
- AAOT: Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer degree
- AS: Associate of Science degree
- ASOTB: Associate of Science Oregon Transfer in Business degree
- AAS: Associate of Applied Science
This degree is designed for students who complete approved coursework in a career/technical program. Because of the specific content of this degree, it is generally not transferable to a four-year school. Students should consult with an advisor in their AAS program regarding specific course requirements, general education, and transferability. - AGS: Associate of General Studies
This degree is designed for students wanting a broad education as opposed to a specific major or career program. Course work may be chosen from career/technical and college transfer courses offered by PCC. This degree may not fulfill the requirements for transfer to a four-year school.
All PCC degrees require a minimum of 90 credits. Only courses numbered 100 or higher fit these credit criteria.
Another way to find out what classes you will need to finish a degree at PCC is to contact an academic advisor, counselor, or program advisor. Each of PCC’s degrees and programs is different, and making sure you are meeting with someone early on will help you save time and money as well as help you stay on track.
Current PCC students also have access to personal degree information online through GRAD Plan. GRAD Plan can be found from your MyPCC.
- Click My Courses tab.
- Locate the Plan My Degree box and click the GRAD Plan link.
From there, you can use the What If?link to search the various degree and certificate requirements and see your progress toward degree completion. It is highly recommended that you speak with an Academic Advisor about the degree information in GRAD Plan and to address questions.
