?Day by Day to Success: Gabe’s Remarkable Journey at PCC?
At the Portland Community College Career Pathways & STEP, we have the privilege of witnessing incredible student journeys. One such journey is that of Gabe, a resident of Rainier, OR, whose resilience and dedication have truly set him apart.
Gabe’s approach to his education has been characterized by taking things day by day. This mindset has allowed him to navigate challenges and stay focused on his goals. His hard work and resilience led him to complete three certificates in pre-trades and machining. Reflecting on his journey, Gabe says, “My experience and everything I’ve had here have just been outstanding. This is a very good environment for anyone who wants to learn. They can feel welcome and feel like they can get things done. Then they can go out into the world and better themselves that way.”
His dedication didn’t stop at completing certificates. Gabe landed a job at PCC OMIC Training Center AND OMIC R&D, where he felt embraced by the community. “One big accomplishment was landing a job at PCC. They really made me feel like part of the PCC team. From there, I was able to build friendships with people who worked here,” he recalls.
Gabe’s journey has been transformative. From a high school graduate unsure of his path to a confident teaching assistant guiding other pre-trades students, Gabe’s story is a testament to the power of education and the supportive community at PCC. His resilience and belief in the value of learning have guided him every step of the way.
