? Spotlight on Excellence: Meet Marisa, Our Dedicated PCC Career Pathways & STEP Coach ?
We’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on Marisa, a dedicated PCC Career Pathways & STEP Coach whose impact on our ICAP (Inclusive Career Advancement Program) students and community is truly profound!
In December 2020, Marisa joined the PCC Career Pathways & STEP team, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective. When the ICAP grant was awarded in March 2022, Marisa eagerly volunteered to explore this new opportunity. Her innovative spirit and commitment have since transformed her role, enabling her to work directly with students with disabilities and make a real difference in their lives.
Marisa’s leadership has been pivotal in creating a more inclusive environment where every student receives the support they need. Her efforts have brought the PCC Career Pathways & STEP team together, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation that significantly enhances student success.
One of Marisa’s proudest moments came when she helped multiple students transition into welding programs. Her work in building strong relationships with PCC academic departments and establishing accommodations that hadn’t existed before was a significant achievement. Seeing these students succeed and thrive in their new fields was incredibly rewarding for her.
Outside of her professional life, Marisa and her wife are creating a little urban homestead. With a passion for home renovation and sustainability, they’re transforming their 0.25-acre property into a vibrant space filled with fruit trees, a vegetable garden, and native plants. Their efforts to support local wildlife and promote eco-friendly practices are truly inspiring. ? ? ?
