Course Description
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Describe basic engine and generator protection systems.
- Navigate various original equipment manufacturer (OEM) controls to find specific information regarding the generator's settings.
- Test basic engine shutdown devices.
- Read, test, and adjust gauges.
- Interpret electrical schematics as they relate to instruments, controls, and protection devices.
- Retrofit outdated analog controls with new digital controls.
Course Activities and Design
This is an outcome based course utilizing a lecture/lab format. This course includes videos, assignments, demonstrations, lectures, and hands on learning. This course will be taught using industry electric power generation equipment and curriculum.
