Course Description
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Explain the history of rock music in social contexts.
- Aurally identify and analyze elements of the rock style from various eras and genres.
- Describe technological advancements in the production and commercialization of rock music.
- Critically analyze and defend positions on music recordings and/or performances.

- Describe major and independent record labels and recording formats.
- Recognize musical style from various eras from recorded examples.
- Assess the contributions of key innovators.
- Discuss the social implications and impact of rock music through its eras.
