Course Description

Covers risk assessment, risk reduction, and treatment methods in addiction counseling. Includes required documentation and reporting practices. Prerequisites: AD 120E, AD 121E, and AD 122E. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Communicate in a non-judgmental and trauma-informed way around risk factors.
  2. Implement risk assessments.
  3. Document referral process.
  4. Describe protocols and procedures around confidentiality and mandated reporting.
  5. Identify signs and symptoms of imminent risk.
