Course Description

Covers clinical evaluation. Includes treatment planning and the management of client records. Covers federal and state regulations as well as American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) placement criteria. Prerequisites: AD 120E, AD 121E, and AD 122E. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Create and maintain individualized client records.
  2. Apply state and federal guidelines regarding required procedures for documentation and client continuum of care.
  3. Identify appropriate client-centered, culturally-responsive, and trauma-informed questions.
  4. Identify current validated assessments used in addiction treatment.
  5. Create a clinical evaluation using ASAM placement criteria.
  6. Describe situations when an assessment is appropriate to use.
