Course Description
Addendum to Course Description
This course is a required for an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Architectural Design and Drafting and in Interior Design.
Transferability of credit depends entirely upon the institution to which the student wishes to transfer.

Intended Outcomes for the course
Apply basic computer aided drafting skills to draw residential construction drawings.
Communicate with design professionals, clients and engineers using industry specific terminology and graphics.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Student to demonstrate understanding of drafting, and construction document preparation including: layout, coordination, noting, dimensions, referencing; through preparation of set of residential construction documents for term project. Student to demonstrate understanding of construction through correct drawing of wall sections and construction details.
Student to finalize a term project for a residence, displaying industry standard drafting, for construction documents.
Student to demonstrate time management skills by completion of projects by assigned deadlines and by meeting specific objectives for each phase of project.
Course Content (Themes, Concepts, Issues and Skills)
Course materials will be presented in a lecture and discussion format", using multimedia, demonstration, video and diagrams which provide examples of industry standard drafting and construction document information, layout, and coordination. The lecture/discussion will be followed by a lab, where students will make application of concepts through drawing a set of construction documents for a residential project.
