Course Description
Emphasizes the use of understanding of the NEC. Topics include code articles, OAR's, supplemental code reference materials, calculations and practice exams. Completion of the series prepares the student apprentice to become a licensed Manufacturing Plant Electrician Journey person. Audit available.

- Use the requirements of the NEC, the Oregon Administrative Rules, and the Oregon Specialty Code, as defined by specific articles in each of these code books to discuss, explain and apply the basic principles of hazardous locations, specialized occupancy, specialized locations, emergency systems, photovoltaic systems, and signaling circuits as applied to the workplace.
- Interpret NEC and Oregon Specialty Codes. *
- Utilize the Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR's) in relation to the NEC and Oregon Specialty Codes (OSC). *
- Use the NEC articles and tables to perform various calculations. *
- Prepare for the NEC code exam. *
- Complete and pass timed practice exams. *
- Complete the NEC code preparation exams with a 75% or higher. *

Course Activities and Design
Course Activities and Design
The instructor uses sample computation examinations, and time-saving references/indexes to prepare the student/journeyperson for licensing, per requirements of the NEC.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Procedures will be discussed at the first class session and the instructor's grading policy will be referenced on the class syllabus.
A Pass - No/Pass grading option is not available for any APR (Apprenticeship) course.
