Course Description

Designed to expose students to cockpit resource management and issues related to multi-crew environments. Focuses on workload management and checklist usage.

Addendum to Course Description

The Multi-Crew Operations class will teach students the importance of an efficient cockpit. Standards from multi-crew environments in the airplane or helicopter industry will be implemented through checklist usage, job workload, teamwork, and professionalism. Class focus will be customized based on student's desired career path.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Explain the importance of cockpit resource management.
  2. Demonstrate how to run a safe and efficient cockpit in a multi-crew environment.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Evaluation methods will include written, oral, and practical testing, including live interaction in a two-pilot, simulated flight environment.

Course Content (Themes, Concepts, Issues and Skills)

Students will be paired together with an instructor simulating the cockpit environment. Areas covered during this training will include:

  1. Checklist usage
  2. Communication
  3. Teamwork
  4. Workload management
  5. Professionalism
  6. Standards used in a multi-crew environment
