Course Description
Introduces mechanisms that translate motion and force, including cams, gears, belts/pulleys, and chains/sprockets. Introduces components such as pawls ratchets, linkages, and levers. Covers the creation of drawings for stock (shelf) items and custom designs. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Create technical mechanical drawings using kinematics principles.
- Apply ANSI-ASME industry standards in the preparation of technical mechanical drawings.
- Research and apply online resources to identify parts and incorporate them in the preparation of technical mechanical drawings.
- Utilize the Machinery’s Handbook (or other qualified sources) to determine the correct size tolerance for detail parts on technical mechanical drawings.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
- Individual assignments from the required textbook, or additional appropriate sources
- Group projects working together to solve problems.
- Quizzes
- Midterm and final exam
