Course Description

This course covers key aspects of equitable hiring, from understanding equity, diversity, and inclusion to identifying biases in interviews. Participants will explore active listening, focus on skills-based assessments, and practice techniques through activities, self-assessments, and role-play for informed hiring decisions.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  • Define and articulate the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the hiring process.
  • Identify common types of implicit biases, understand their impacts on hiring, and apply strategies to reduce these biases during interviews.
  • Implement effective questioning practices through active listening and refine their approach to interviewing, ensuring a more equitable assessment of candidates.
