Course Description

Offers practical experience in dance rehearsal and performance with a varying focus each term. Provides experience in production elements of dance performance as well as the opportunity to expand understanding of the choreographic process through research. Requires audition for admission. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion, students should be able to:

  • Engage the imagination through dance performance.
  • Appraise own skills and abilities, through feedback, to improve future performance.
  • Engage in and appreciate different forms of artistic expression through dance performance.
  • Apply production elements as they relate to dance rehearsals and performances.

Warm up
Review choreography (or structure)
Introduce and/or create new choreography (or movement material)
Apply feedback to improve performance
Observation and discussion
Journaling or notes may be used
