Course Description
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate preparedness to sit for the Dental Assisting National Board Exam in Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) written exam.
2. Expose a Full Mouth X-ray (FMX) on a patient in a safe and effective manner and document services rendered accurately.
3. Expose pediatric occlusal radiographs.
4. Exposure pediatric bitewing radiographs.
5. Expose vertical bitewing radiographs.
6. Demonstrate use of the Nomad handheld x-ray system.
Outcome Assessment Strategies

Hours: 3Be prepared for Oregon's competency requirements by exposing a Full Mouth Series (FMS) on a live patient, and demonstrate competency when exposing images on patients in the dental radiology lab throughout the academic terms.

- Direct and indirect instruction on patient management techniques while performing image exposures
- Work collaboratively with peers to evaluate and critique dental images
- Work collaboratively with peers during peer-to-peer placement of dental sensor in the oral cavity
