Course Description

Covers the administration of local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation techniques for safe and effective patient management of pain and anxiety related to dental procedures. Students serve as patients for each other, applying the knowledge and skills taught in DH 220.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Plan and deliver local anesthesia.
  2. Plan and deliver nitrous oxide.
  3. Practice effective communication and patient management during pain management procedures.
  4. Practice ethical and legal compliance including documentation following administration of local anesthesia and/or nitrous oxide.
