Course Description
Addendum to Course Description
Students will work independently at assigned work stations.
Intended Outcomes for the course
1. Wax-up “ideal” and characterized complete dentures utilizing full balance.
2. Process a wax-up in denture acrylic, remount and finish.
3. Repair a broken denture and replace a broken denture tooth.
4. Reline and re-base a denture

Utilizing direct instruction on computation skills presented in DT 101:
Measure gypsum and acrylic for denture repair and tooth replacement
Measure gypsum, impression materials and acrylic for denture reline
Measure gypsum, impression materials and acrylic for denture rebase

Practice Safety and Infection Control Procedures
Utilizing direct instruction on communicating with dental lab professionals through the use of inquiry and listening skills, students discuss/query/clarify:
Demonstration and questions on denture repair and tooth replacment
Demonstration and questions regarding denture relines in the lab
Denture rebase demonstration and student queries
Critique and discuss students and peers work

Demonstrations followed by partner activities assisting each other to repair, reline and rebase broken dentures.
Advising sessions with instructor related to completion of denture projects utilizing technical terminology and professional demeanor.
Group interactions and discussions focused on new information assimilation.
Team work in operation of dental lab sessions, utilization of materials and maintaining infection control and safety.
