Course Description

Covers the uses of porcelain and acrylic in crown and bridge construction with emphasis on color and form reproduction. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

Specialty practical cases will be included with routine laboratory projects. Prerequisites: Completion of DT 204 and DT 270 with a grade of C or better, or permission of instructor.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  • Use porcelain veneer and resins to produce finished crowns and bridgework using patient models.
  • Demonstrate adaptation and problem solving techniques to solve problems in occlusion, tooth shape and alignment, and periodontal conditions on specialty practical cases.
  • Use learned skills to build professional relationships with dentists as partners within healthcare teams.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

1. Evaluation of completed laboratory projects at any step of the fabrication process as well as at the completion of the project.
2. Students will also be assessed on speed and efficiency and lab safety compliance.
3. Weekly waxing quizzes on specialty practical cases.
