Students will:

• Plan and develop educationally-valid multimedia projects using a variety of computer-based products.
• Demonstrate the use of design conventions and guidelines to produce projects keyed to specific curricula.
• Use supporting technologies to capture sound, images, video, and text for use in projects.
• Publish projects to CD-ROM or the Web to make them accessible to a wider audience.

Student’s progress will be evaluated by the following tools:

• Completion of multimedia development assignments according to explicitly-stated guidelines including, but not limited to, design specifications, writing conventions, and recognition of the advantages and limitations of various file formats, storage methods, and delivery modalities
• Self-, peer- and instructor-assessment of completed projects based on accuracy, educational validity, and adherence to assignment guidelines
• Participation in group and class discussions and presentations
• Attendance

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

 Students will:

• Using current multimedia development tools, plan, develop, and publish educationally-valid multimedia projects geared to specific curricula and educational outcomes.
• Successfully capture media (i.e., images, sounds, full-motion video, and text) using current technologies.
• Prepare and present written and oral evaluations of student-developed multimedia projects based on a combination of instructor- and student-developed guidelines.
• Critically review commercial multimedia titles based on educational validity, accessibility, ease of use, and extensibility.
