Course Description
Explore capacitance, inductance, RC/RL transient response, sinusoidal waveforms, reactance and impedance, and AC power. Covers phasor analysis of RLC circuits, node voltage and mesh current analysis, superposition, Thevenin's and Norton's network theorems. Includes a 3-hour per week laboratory. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:
1. Use DC/AC concepts to analyze circuits.
2. Build and simulate DC/AC electrical circuits and perform measurements with electronic test equipment.
3. Write technical reports using collected experiment data.
Course Activities and Design
Lectures include a diverse array of activities such as assignments and tests. Laboratory activity includes building circuits on solder-less breadboards, making circuit measurements using test equipment, and analyzing test data.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Evaluation is by exams, assignments, and lab work.
