Course Description
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Identify the key clinical and operational needs that healthcare IT addresses.
- Provide an overview of operation, troubleshooting, routine preventive maintenance, and safety inspections for biomedical networks and medical devices connected to the hospital network.
- Identify key healthcare IT technology characteristics, including regulation and compliance requirements
- Describe the biomedical engineering technician role and responsibilities for healthcare informatics.

Students will complete assignments, projects, take tests and other activities over the lectured material.

Fundamental technology review of healthcare information networks and systems.
· Technical and User literature review for healthcare information systems.
· Regulatory codes and compliance requirements for hospitals as it relates to healthcare information systems.
Overview of basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance as well as root cause analysis for healthcare networks and medical device connectivity.
