Course Description

Application for Ready Access; includes the use of special splicing techniques, enclosures, test sets and fault locating equipment. Placing, splicing, termination and testing of fiber optic cables in campus applications is included. This class can be used towards Continuing Education Units for Oregon State electrical licensing purposes.

Intended Outcomes for the course

  1. Describe the operation of related test equipment.
  2. Demonstrate connectorization techniques.
  3. Locate and repair breaks in Fiber Optics cabling.
  4. Properly set-up and use specialized test equipment.

In-class activities are made up of lecture, demonstrations, hands-on activities and discussions. See instructor syllabus for details.

Procedures will be discussed at the first class session and the instructor's grading policy will be referenced on the class syllabus.
