Course Description
Addendum to Course Description
Prerequisites: (WR 115 and RD 115) or IRW 115 and MTH 20 or equivalent placement. Audit available. This course fulfills the following GE requirements: Social Sciences/AAOT, Social Sciences/AS, Social Sciences/AAS, Social Sciences/AGS, Social Sciences/ASOT-B.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students will be able to:
- Explain significant public health issues related to children’s health and well-being.
- Analyze biological, behavioral, and psychological influences on children's health.
- Describe how socio-cultural factors impact children's health.
- Evaluate and apply credible, evidence-based, public health approaches to children’s health promotion and strategies for disease treatment and prevention.
Social Inquiry and Analysis
Students completing an associate degree at Portland Community College will be able to apply methods of inquiry and analysis to examine social contexts and the diversity of human thought and experience.
