Course Description

Provides an opportunity to analyze diagnostic tests and results in an electronic health record format and identify the medical necessity for the tests.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Utilize software in the analysis of health record tasks.

  2. Interpret the documentation in the health record to ensure it supports the diagnosis and reflects the patient's progress and clinical findings.

  3. Examine the documentation in the health record to ensure it is timely, complete, and accurate.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Students will demonstrate these learning outcomes by these tasks conducted individually and in cooperation with other students:

  1. Perform search activities such as Internet, libraries and other databases.

  2. Successful completion of assigned modules are outlined on the lab schedule
