Course Description

Covers the collection, retrieval, analysis and quality review of administrative and clinical information and data. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Describe analytics and decision support, including the capabilities of dashboards and data capture tools.
  2. Utilize enterprise-wide information assets in support of organizational strategies and objectives.
  3. Explain concepts of database architecture and design.
  4. Differentiate the roles and responsibilities of various providers and disciplines to support documentation requirements throughout the continuum of healthcare.
  5. Validate the reliability and accuracy of secondary data sources.

Aspirational Goals

  1. Explain common research methodologies and why they are used in healthcare.
