Addendum to Course Description
Upon completion of this course, students will be working toward competency in the following Oregon Child Welfare Case Worker Competency area:
Skill Set 1: Fundamentals of Child Welfare Practice
1.3 Ability to use trauma-informed practices that are inclusive of the child and family’s language, race, and culture.
1.4 Ability to work collaboratively with community-based partners and Tribes to achieve safety, permanency and well-being for all children and families.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Articulate the history, mission, and scope of child welfare in public and private settings.
- Identify the diversity of populations served and needs addressed by child welfare practitioners.
- Identify the attitudes, skills, and knowledge needed in the child welfare field.
