Course Description

Introduces the concepts and practices associated with the social and emotional well being of infants and toddlers. Covers attachment theory, promoting parent-child relationships, culturally responsive caregiving practices, and Resources for Infant Educators (RIE). Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Identify the social and emotional milestones that emerge in infancy and toddlerhood.
  2. Describe the importance of the parent-child relationship in relation to secure attachment theory for infants and toddlers.
  3. Identify emotion regulation strategies as relevant to infants and toddlers.
  4. Review culturally responsive caregiving practices.

  • Complete quizzes or exams.
  • Engage in activities and tasks related to course content.
