Course Description
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course student should be able to:

Explain the differences in interpreting and transliterating.

Discuss the linguistic variations and consumer language preferences seen in the American Deaf community.

Produce an accurate simultaneous transliteration of the main ideas and some supporting details of a given source message.

Transliterate using the appropriate English-based signing system to accommodate the language preferences of the Deaf consumer.
Course Activities and Design
Course activities include interpreting, transliterating, student discussions, and student presentations.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Students will be assessed on presentation, assignments, and interpreting/transliterating skills.
