Course Description
Addendum to Course Description
This class is designed to provide the beginning landscape student with basic knowledge of plant anatomy, physiology and classification. The effects of the environment on plant growth and development are explored. Material is presented by lecture, visual aids and hands-on laboratory experiences.
Intended Outcomes for the course
The intended outcome is the development of a scientific basis for the decisions made in designing, management (care and culture), use, and identification of plants in the landscape.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Evaluation will be based on written assignments from laboratory experiences that deal with scientific observation and data gathering; one project assignment that is either a written report or oral presentation on a specific horticulture topic that relates to botanical principles and practices; two written mid-term exams and a written comprehensive final exam.
