Students who successfully complete this course will develop a usable interactive multimedia presentation. Commercial produced multimedia elements (clip media) will be incorporated into the student produced program.
 

The defined outcomes listed in this guide are stated in terms of what the student will be able to do after completing this course. This section is a statement of final learning outcomes and does not attempt to state how, or in what order, the defined outcomes will be presented.
The student will be able to:

1. establish the goal of the project;

2. identify the target audience;

3. select the project theme utilizing one of the presentation template’s in Microsoft PowerPoint™;

4. add multimedia elements to a basic presentation project using:

4.1. graphic clip art;
4.2. stock photographs;
4.3. stock video clips;
4.4. stock sound clips;

5. create text using the text features of Microsoft PowerPoint™;

6. present the enhanced multimedia project to the class;

7. participate in individual & group evaluations of the multimedia project, identifying items for improvement;

8. implement the requested changes;

9. add the presentation project to the MM portfolio & Department Web Site, as directed.

Course material will be presented in a lecture/hands-on format. This course is designed to maximize learning through the use of strategies such as outcome based instruction, collaborative learning, contextual application and outcome based assessment. Lecture material will consist of discussion, diagrams, multimedia, and other educationally sound practices. Other activities will include hands-on utilization of presentation and production software. Demonstration and handout materials will be provided.

Assessment is designed to indicate achievement of the course outcome and performance tasks. The instructor will outline the methods used to assess student progress and the criteria for assigning a grade at the beginning of the course. Assessment will be based upon a combination of in-class participation, attendance, examinations, and quality of the multimedia project(s). Determination of problem solving skills, team work, and communication skills may also be included.
