Course Description

Introduces an independent and applied physical exercise program to promote physical activity in all areas of fitness including cardiovascular, resistance training, and flexibility/mobility. Explore healthy behavior change through exercise, nutrition, and habits. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate individually planned exercise skills that lead to improved cardiovascular conditioning and body composition.
  2. Apply behavior change techniques to improve overall fitness and well being.
  3. Design a life-long fitness program.

Aspirational Goals

To provide accountability and motivation to participate in weekly physical activity and develop a life-long fitness plan.

  • Pre and Post Assessment
  • Maintain Physical Activity Log
  • Participate in Online Discussions

Outcome Assessment Strategies

  • Pre/Post Physical Exercise Assessment and optional circumferences/BMI
  • Weekly  Exercise Log  to track physical exercise
  • Participation in discussion assignments.
  • Introduction Quiz

  • Setting Physical Activity Goals with S.M.A.R.T and F.I.T.T principles
  • Explore the Components of Fitness including cardiovascular, resistance training, and flexibility and mobility. 
  • Intensity monitoring via target heart rate
  • Explore nutrition habits to support weight management 
  • Explore further components of health and wellness to create life-long fitness program
