Course Description
Progressive continuation of fundamental techniques employed in the art of Karate-Do. Recommended: Beginning Karate I or equivalent. Audit available.
Addendum to Course Description
Classes will be conducted in large group format for warm-up, lecture, demonstrations, observation, and participation. In addition, classes will be divided into small group and individuals for assessment, application, and correction.

Course Content (Themes, Concepts, Issues and Skills)
- Warm-up, stretching, and cool down procedures
- Conditioning, strength, and endurance development
- Body mechanics and alignment development
- Discuss differences between Judo, Karate, Aikido, Boxing, etc.
- History and traditions of Karate-Do
- Differences between sport Karate and traditional Karate-Do
- Kata-(Seisan) Oldest form of prearranged movements in Okinawan Karate-Do
- Kicking, spin kicking and combination kicks
- Combination punching
- Blocking and evading an attacker
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:
- Practice safe and effective warm-up, stretching, and cool down procedures
