Course Description

Introduces intermediate acting techniques. Continues to explore text analysis and performance skills. 欧洲杯决赛竞猜app_欧洲杯足球网-投注|官网s an intermediate-level awareness of the physical and vocal skills required of a stage performer. Includes one-act plays assigned as projects. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students will be able to:  

  • Choose a role from dramatic literature and prepare it for performance with a partner. 
  • Perform scenes for a group of peers. 
  • Attend a live performance and complete a critique. 
  • Determine and demonstrate what is required for the preparation of a role in a play.

  • In-class activities  
  • Quizzes over text  
  • Play critique  
  • Short assignment performances

  • Appropriate use of relaxation and concentration  
  • Analysis of script in preparation of a role  
  • Physical and vocal work as applicable to style

SKILLS:  

1.0  BODY WORK  

  • Create and practice relaxation/energizing exercises  
  • Use meditation, yoga, focus exercises to enhance relaxation/delivery  
  • Practice movement exercises as related to acting style

2.0  SCRIPT/CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

  • Memorize assigned/chosen scenes

  • Rehearse with partner in preparation for performance  
  • Practice cold reading techniques  

3.0  PERFORMANCES

  • Use the voice with projection and articulation  
  • Display blocking choices consistent with the script  
  • Demonstrate the partnership aspects of a scene (give-and-take)  
  • Accept criticism and praise  

4.0  VOCAL WORK  

  • Demonstrate a physical and vocal warm-up routine  
  • Apply projection and articulation techniques in a scene  
  • Determine necessary vigorous physical activity and apply rehearsal techniques

5.0  STYLIZATION  

  • Apply understanding of various styles of acting by scene work  
  • Perform with clarity classical choices  
  • Analyze roles with attention to physical and vocal demands
