Course Description

Covers identifying and evaluating appropriate funding sources, developing community relationships, and crafting funding proposals. Includes participating on a student team to work with a local non-profit agency to prepare a competitive grant proposal and/or strengthen the non-profit's grant-seeking efforts. Prerequisites: WR 115, RD 115 and MTH 20 or equivalent placement test scores. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students will be able to:

  1. Assess a non-profit's organizational readiness for grant applications.
  2. Identify and evaluate the potential funding sources most appropriate for a non-profit organization’s goals and objectives.
  3. Work as a team member in the grant proposal development process.
  4. Write a grant proposal which includes effective documentation, relevant data, and a project budget.
  5. Write a two-page letter of inquiry.

Students will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of the concepts described in the
required competencies by any combination of the following:
