Course Description

Covers the application of integrated multidisciplinary learning in the dental hygiene clinical practice. Expands upon foundational laboratory and clinical patient care skills. Continues developing clinical competencies at the beginner clinician level. Corequisites: DH 103.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency and improved efficiency in data collection and assessment at the beginner clinician level.
  2. Recognize and address special considerations in the provision of dental hygiene care.
  3. Implement the dental hygiene process of care.
  4. Formulate patient-centered treatment plans independently.
  5. Perform preventive and therapeutic hand and ultrasonic debridement at the beginner level.
  6. Deliver patient education with cultural humility.
