Course Description

Continues to expand on basic dental materials skills covered in Dental Materials Lab I. Provides hands-on practice including manipulation of dental materials used in the provision of dental hygiene clinical restorative procedures. Corequisites: DH 233.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Assess and select appropriate dental restorative materials based on clinical indications and material characteristics.
  2. Demonstrate dental bonding procedures for both direct and indirect restorations.
  3. Employ proper mixing and placement techniques.
  4. Demonstrate using a dental handpiece for finishing, polishing and occlusal adjustments.
