Course Description

Provides a culmination of comprehensive training in restorative dentistry. Improves upon and reinforces clinical skills in performing restorative procedures, focusing on hands-on practice in the clinical setting. Covers a range of restorative services, emphasizing clinical techniques and patient care skills. Prerequisites: DH 243.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate chairside assisting duties during restorative procedures.
  2. Obtain patient informed consent for restorative procedures.
  3. Employ pain management techniques required for restorative procedures.
  4. Demonstrate placement, finishing and polishing of permanent, temporary, and therapeutic restorations as directed by a dentist at the entry restorative clinician level.
  5. Evaluate and adjust the patient's occlusion prior to final restoration evaluation by attending dentist.
