Upon completion of the course students should be able to: 

1. Describe major learning and developmental theories and their application to teaching.
2. Explore learning theories in the context of gender, socioeconomic background, culture, and race/ethnicity. 
3. Evaluate instructional, curricular, and assessment strategies on how they impact teaching and learning through an equity lens. 

Students become highly effective teachers able to address diverse needs, due to a wealth of theoretical and practical teaching strategies. Students create legacy assignments that can be used beyond this course, in future ED 131 courses. Students will be encouraged to create assignments that draw on their strengths. Legacy assignments could include "how to videos" for future assignments, personal stories, power points, and illustrations of their learning. Students will be motivated to learn from other students.

• Written assignments with options to complete presentations including: videos or slideshows.
• Group discussions
• Group and individual presentations
• quizzes

The following assessment strategies will be utilized: 

1. Class discussions - Students discuss ideas about how to apply learning and development theories (discussion boards).  

2. Essays - Students explore learning and development theories

3. Presentations - Students share the key points and implications of learning and development theories

4. Final Project - Students apply learning and development theories to demonstrate how to support diverse student success.  

Students will: 

1. Å·ÖÞ±­¾öÈü¾º²Âapp_Å·ÖÞ±­×ãÇòÍø-Ͷע|¹ÙÍø a working knowledge of various learning and developmental theories.  

2. Discuss how learning and developmental theories impact teaching and assessment.

3. Utilize a culturally relevant lens in order to instruct, assess, and support student development.
