Course Description
Surveys complex computing environments where computers, operating systems, programming languages and network connections integrate. Includes activities involving command line, terminal applications, programming, hardware identification, troubleshooting and system analysis. Prerequisites: EET 122. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Identify the purpose of and physically locate all the major components within a computing system in order to troubleshoot, repair or replace parts.
- Use shell commands and scripting languages for application prototyping and development.
- Predict how a computer program will function and create computer programs with variables, conditionals, loops, functions, and arrays.
- Apply the basic operations of computer networks including commonly used transmission media.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Assessment methods will be defined by the instructor during the first week of class. Typically, in-class quizzes, online quizzes, online programming assignments, exams, and other homework assignments will be used.
