Course Description

Covers incident action plans (IAP), principles of fire ground control, incident management, conducting a post-incident analysis, and writing an incident report. Prerequisites: FP 112, and (WR 115 and RD 115) or IRW 115 and MTH 20 or equivalent placement. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

Meets the requisite job performance knowledge and skills identified in the National Fire Protection Association, NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Professional Qualifications at the Officer I & II levels.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  2. Implement an incident action plan at an emergency operation.
  3. Produce operational plans for use in emergency situations.

Course Activities and Design

The material in this course will be presented in a lecture and discussion format. Other instructional methods may include guest speakers, research papers, book and journal article reviews, written and oral reports and presentations, classroom simulations, and video presentations.

  • Various individual and/or group scenario based problem solving activities, case studies, or other exercises geared toward critical analysis of course concepts.
