Course Description

Explores basic principles of nutrition with an emphasis on applications to fitness, weight management and athletic performance. Prerequisites: FT 131, MTH 58 or MTH 60, WR 121 or equivalent placement, and (HE 295 and PE 295) or HPE 295. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Discuss nutrients and their influence on exercise and performance.
  2. Calculate general nutritional needs based on client goals.
  3. Educate clients on nutrition needs using scientifically sound information.
  4. Apply behavior change and motivational strategies to enhance client achievement of nutritional goals.
