Course Description

Covers layout design of multi-page printed documents. Includes interactive page elements, prepress and output, file management, and industry-standard design processes. The PCC Graphic Design department recommends that students take GD 140 and GD 141 courses in consecutive terms. Prerequisites: GD 116, GD 122, GD 140, GD 151. Prerequisites/concurrent: GD 124, GD 160, GD 182.

Addendum to Course Description

A grade of a "B" or better is required for placement into the second year of the program.
 

Intended Outcomes for the course

 Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  • Produce multiple-page communication materials for print and interactive digital use employing the advanced tools and techniques of industry-standard page layout software.

  • Create printed communication materials which reflect an awareness of contemporary design trends.

  • Employ a systematic, file-naming convention for organization of the large number of project elements and files associated with a typical multiple-page project in the workplace.
