Course Description

Provides an opportunity to gain experience at a graphic design worksite or at a business employing graphic designers. Provides opportunities for new learning, skill development and practicing skills learned in the required courses. Requires coordination and approval by the instructor, the on-site supervisor and PCC Cooperative Education Specialist. Prerequisites: GD 141, GD 151, GD 160.

Intended Outcomes for the course


Students should be able to:

  • Apply acquired graphic design skills, knowledge, and training in a work place setting. 

Outcome Assessment Strategies

A Cooperative Education Learning Outcomes form will be executed between the student, employer, instructor, and cooperative education specialist. This will list objectives, and duties, indicating what will be done to learn the objectives. Attainment of the objectives and the effectiveness of the duties in learning the objectives will be evaluated.

At the completion of the course, an on-site interview with the student, and employer/supervisor will be conducted to determine if the student has met the goals and objectives.

If applicable, the student will compile a portfolio demonstrating the work completed during the placement.
